WILL HE GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE?
Much was made of the recent announcement that US-led combat operations in Iraq were over, and the last combat unit was to be sent home. Tonight, President Obama will be addressing the nation. While we at Move America Forward congratulate these brave troops and will greet them as heroes, we also call on the Obama Administration to do the right thing, and give credit where it is due. He should thank George W. Bush for enabling victory in Iraq, in addition to the troops who and won the war, despite Obama's opposition to the successful war strategy.
In 2007, the War on Terror was raging worse than ever in Iraq, the outlook for the American public was grim, and too many of our precious troops were hurt or being killed in battle. Politicians on the left began piling on their attacks on both President Bush and the mission, putting their own political gain ahead of the lives of our troops.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid personally surrendered to the terrorists and gave a huge morale boost and symbolic victory to the enemy when he said, "I believe this war is lost. The surge is not accomplishing anything."
Perpetual Candidate Obama himself predicted that the surge would not help in Iraq, “in fact, I think it will do the opposite” he said, predicting that our troops would make matters worse! Later he would say "The surge is not working" and believed our efforts in Iraq would fail. |
Apparently, politicians like Harry Reid quickly forget their foolish statements, as he now joins President Obama in taking credit for the victory that was made possible through the sheer determination of President George W. Bush, along with the courage and dedication of our brave troops who called him Commander-in-Chief.
What has become clear is that politicians stand ready to denounce the troops the moment things get tough, and then rush in to claim victory after the shooting stops and the battle is won. At Move America Forward, we are firmly dedicated to holding these shameless politicians accountable, and calling them out for their deception and cowardice.
We need your help to fight back against those who would sell out our soldiers for a couple extra votes, and replace them with honest, patriotic Americans who will respect and support the men and women who serve.
Now our great Lecturer-in-Chief Obama is trying to claim victory for a mission he actively opposed, and many in his administration now have attempted to take credit for victory in Iraq.
Vice President Joe Biden called the outcome of the Iraq war “one of the great achievements of this administration.” trying to argue that Obama and his administration deserve more credit than President Bush or even the troops who fought the war! Nothing could be further from the truth!
Yet when Bush was making the hard decisions to stay the course in Iraq, it was Biden who said "The whole notion that the surge is working is fantasy."!
The truth is that if Obama and Biden had been in charge, America would have already lost he Iraq war, and suffered dearly the consequences. But history has proven Reid, Biden, and Obama to be dead wrong, as it was precisely the strategic surge that allowed American forces to regain momentum in Iraq, and continue their fight to liberate the Iraqi people from under the tyrannical rule of Saddam Hussein.

While in Iraq, delivering care packages and thanking our troops, we saw the torture chambers and horrific prisons where Iraqis were systematically tortured and killed. The Kurds were spared from his maniacal attempt at genocide. Let’s not forget that once again, American troops rid the world of a monster.
We remember how President Bush asked congress and the US military to persevere, adjust strategy, and commit to the success that was so close at hand. President Bush knew that victory could be won if we just kept with the plan and trusted our generals, like David H. Petraeus.
Obama has done one thing right, and that is to follow the plan of action laid out by Bush and his generals before Obama took office. By sticking to that blueprint, he has been fortunate to preside over a great military achievement. Now it is time for him to recognize where that victory really came from, and say 'thank you' to President Bush too, as well as the many soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines that made it a reality.
Tonight President Obama will be delivering his oval office speech on Iraq, but how much credit will he try to take? Will he give the credit where credit is due? Will he thank President Bush for his commitment to a final victory?

Colonel Chris Gibson is a decorated combat veteran, who spent 24 years as an officer in the United States Army and saw action in Iraq, Kosovo and other places. He did four tours in Iraq including part of the fighting in Ramadi in 2005 when that city was seeing some of the bloodiest fighting of the war.
Chris has commanded several prestigious units in the Army including the 82nd Airborne Division and 3rd Armored Cav. Regiment. During his service in Iraq he earned a purple heart, four bronze stars, two legions of merit and several other badges and awards.
Heís also highly educated, earning several degrees from Cornell University. Chris has published several books on war, governing and strategy and taught courses at the prestigious West Point Academy.
A product of the ROTC program, Gibson is the quintessential warrior-scholar and heís the perfect candidate to take on Scott Murphy, who criticized our military and ROTC while attending Harvard.

Both of these men are qualified and capable, accomplished and decorated soldiers. They have proven themselves in battle and displayed the leadership that more than qualifies them to serve in Congress. We need that type of leadership to take on Obamaís agenda and aggressively attack it and defeat it.

Jerry Brown’s campaign allies are getting more and more interesting. Just two days after we exposed Brown for taking money from terrorist-supporting, anti-military Code Pink leaders, we now have President Obama stepping forward for Brown too. Wouldn’t you think, as Commander-in-Chief, he would hesitate to support a candidate who was willing take money from these leftists?
This past weekend Brown held a fundraiser at the home of Jodie Evans, CODE PINK co-founder and millionaire leftist activist. Move America Forward was there with supporters to denounce and protest that fundraiser, calling on Jerry Brown to not take ‘BLOOD MONEY’ from CODE PINK. He took it anyways.

Then just yesterday Barack Obama’s everlasting campaign apparatus, dubbed “Organizing for America” sent out an email to members nationwide to try to rally support for Jerry Brown.
If Obama thinks this is an important race, SO SHOULD YOU! Too many Americans stood by when our returning Viet-Nam veterans were scorned by leftists like Jodie Evans. We have vowed to make sure that never happens again – that our troops are always revered and respected for their great service to protect our freedom and liberties.
It’s also worth noting the links between Obama, Jodie Evans and Jerry Brown. Both of these men have happily posed for pictures with Jodie Evans and taken her money and fundraising skills, despite her horrible past of being anti-US military.

Jodie Evans helped rally the Los Angeles progressive community to Obama’s side by co-hosting the first Hollywood fundraiser for Obama in February 2007 along with her partner (and ex-husband) Max Palevsky and the Dreamworks trio of Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen. Jodie Evans went on to be appointed a fund raiser for Obama.
Over the life of the campaign, Jodie Evans became one of Obama’s top donors, giving the maximum $2300 to his respective primary and general election funds and tens of thousands of dollars more to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint Obama-Democratic National Committee fund.

With her influence and money, Jodie Evans has tried to persuade Obama as president. When CODE PINK visited the Middle East, they brought back communications intended for President Obama’s eyes only. Jodie Evans delivered a “petition” from Afghan Women [ or Taliban leaders? ] and spoke directly to Obama on camera, in a Code Pink t-shirt that read “END THE AFGHAN QUAGMIRE,” and Obama officials were fine with letting the commander in chief be seen with someone wearing clothes supporting our enemies! Medea Benjamin personally delivered a letter from HAMAS, addressed directly to Obama.

Now, just days after Move America Forward disrupted CODE PINK’s efforts to aid Jerry Brown, Obama is stepping in to support him. It is really shameful!
We can’t allow CODE PINK to continue their attempt to influence Jerry Brown or Barack Obama with their agenda of losing the war in Afghanistan and allowing America to be shamed and defeated! That is their goal and they are helping get Jerry Brown elected just as they helped get Obama elected!

FROM ONE PATRIOT WHO WAS THERE . . .
Saturday afternoon I made my way to Venice, a place I seldom venture out to, in order to protest the CODE PINK fundraiser for Jerry Brown, hosted at the residence owned by none other than Jodie Evans, who is one of the group’s wealthy co-founders.
Jodie Evans has plenty of money to spread around as she married well to the now deceased computer pioneer, Max Palevsky. The fundraiser was organized to support Jerry’s gubernatorial campaign, and you would think he would be more sensitive about where his campaign dollars come from.
Move America Forward wondered if Governor Moonbeam knew what is old friend Jodie and her pals had been up to all these years; sending money to terrorists, visiting with Hugo Chavez, supporting Hamas, Hezbollah and Ahmadinejad, and not so quietly either. It seemed improbable that Jerry wouldn’t know that his old pal Jodie was keeping the company of terrorist organizations and Communistic dictators, so we decided to pay a visit and let them know that wasn’t OK with the patriotic troops and their families we represent.
Our group was led by our Chief Strategist Sal Russo, former MAF Chairman Melanie Morgan and blogger Andrew Breitbart, who improved upon our protesting tactics by implementing a new innovation – in-line skates! We crowded around the expensive house where the CODE PINKERS had invited their crazy liberal pals, holding our signs and flags high as we shouted our indictments of CODE PINK so that the attendees could know what horrible things they perpetrate and stand for. Top ticket price for the event was $25,000 a person – so it was a Hollywood type crowd that showed up.
We have always opposed CODE PINK because they just openly
support terrorists and attack our U.S. military men and women.
We refuse to allow someone who could be California’s next
governor accept blood money in exchange for turning a
blind eye to CODE PINK’S support of terrorists and dictators!
Help us keep the pressure on Jerry Brown to give the money back!
 Melanie, and then I, laid ourselves down on the sidewalk right in front of the gate, forcing them to step over us, just the way CODE PINK impeded the work of military recruiters in Berkeley. It was certainly a satisfying feeling to make CODE PINK feel the sting of their own tactics and know what it’s like for the troops they’ve hurt with their similar attacks. They were very upset that we were in their way and tried to lecture me and Melanie about ‘having respect’, something they know very little about.
“You have the right to protest, and express your views,” they lectured, “but we really want to ask if you cannot block the exit because we have people…“
“CODE PINK GOES INTO PEOPLE’S HOMES! Into people’s office buildings! You’re going to lecture us about proper protesting?” interrupted Andrew Breitbart, who found it incredulous that Code Pink people were trying to tell us how we could and couldn’t protest them! “Dissent on sidewalks is patriotic!” he mocked the common anti-war epithet.
This woman called me a "very difficult human being" for obstructing her entry!
As people walked up to the house we gave them with information, literally forcing them to confront the ugly truth then and there. “Did you know CODE PINK supports and has met with Hamas, Hezbollah, and the dictator Hugo Chavez?”
“CODE PINK gave money to the terrorists! $600,000 for the insurgents in Fallujah in Iraq, 2005!”
“Did you know that Jodie Evans and CODE PINK helped organize the Gaza Flotilla!?”
“If you support our troops you won’t go in that house!”
Many of the attendees were ignorantly denying that CODE PINK or Jodie Evans had done wrong, while others seemed to admit it, but were somehow happy and proud of the facts. When I told one attendee that CODE PINK had met and was talking with leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah he said to me, “Good! Somebody should be!” and smiled and walked past. Other attendees stepped on us, or kicked us as they walked over us. Always fun to visit with the “tolerant Left,” right?
One guy, mustering as much bravado as possible despite his pink outfit yelled, “you’re full of [expletive]” right to my face. I have to admit; I returned it back to him and said “you’re full of [expletive] if you support CODE PINK!” Probably not my best moment, but it was a heated exchange!
 This TV cameraman tried to get CODE PINK's side of the story, gave them
a chance to deny their links to Hamas, Hezbollah and other terrorists,
but they declined to make a statement in their own defense!
I overheard one organizer who was helping run the event try to justify Jodie Evans and her activities to one of the attendees. She said “Jodie has been to so many places, umm… like Iraq and other places, to support the people, not doing anything other than just hearing what it’s like for them.” Which is a total lie, CODE PINK was not meeting with the people; they were there getting cozy with the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah, and brutal dictactors like Hugo Chavez who all have one thing in common – a hatred America, our freedom, and the formidable strength of our military.
Despite our warning, Jerry Brown happily took their money.
CODE PINK money, bathed in blood.

The anti-war group CODE PINK, which professes to love peace but in reality only supports a radical left wing Marxist agenda, has long been a bitter rival of Move America Forward’s. Ever since CODE PINK began supporting the terrorists in their war on America and aided their efforts to kill American troops, Move America Forward has mobilized to thwart CODE PINK at every turn.
We’ve shown up to counter-protest their anti-war rallies, we’ve stood up and supported our troops wherever CODE PINK went to trash and berate the military. We’ve stood toe-to-toe against these vile, un-American kooks, and that’s why we’re asking you to stand with us and support our troops and stand against CODE PINK again!
This SATURDAY, AUGUST 21st, there is an event for California Attorney General Jerry Brown that is hosted by CODE PINK’s founding member Jodie Evans. Evans is a principal leader of the radical group and is one of their wealthy benefactors who bankrolls the group’s activities. She’s holding an event at her home in Venice, California this weekend to provide support and funds to Jerry Brown, who is running for Governor of California and obviously will take money from anyone – even disgraced anti-troop people like this! The next thing we will hear is that Jane Fonda will be there!

We’re calling on Jerry Brown to cancel his event with CODE PINK because any real American should know better than to associate with a group like CODE PINK who actively aided and abetted our enemies in the war on terror. CODE PINK hopes to bring about a period of peace and socialism after mainstream capitalist America burns to the ground. CODE PINK sees Al Qaeda and the terrorists as freedom fighters and actually provided over $600,000 in cash and medical supplies to the terrorists and their families during the battle of Fallujah, when our Marines were still being shot at by the enemy!

Another one of CODE PINK’s founders, Medea Benjamin, is quoted in a French newspaper bragging about the unprecedented nature of their group’s support for the terrorists in Fallujah.
“I don't know of any other case in history in which the parents of fallen soldiers collected medicine...for the families of the ‘other side,’” Benjamin said. “It is a reflection of a growing movement in the United States...opposed to the unjust nature of this war.”

They’ve also traveled to Venezuela to meet with and praise Marxist anti-American dictator Hugo Chavez. They are opposed to the USA and Israel taking any action to stop and neutralize Iran’s nuclear capability! They want the terrorists to have access to nuclear material!

Primary date after primary date is flashing by as America races towards November elections. With all the commotion of the politicians and their campaigners gearing up for a historic election this fall, our troops are at risk of being forgotten again.

The issue of military voting, and the difficulties our troops face in trying to exercise their voting rights was brought up during the last election by the late Robert Novak in his article “They Fight but Can’t Vote”
“Analysis by the federal Election Assistance Commission, rejecting inflated Defense Department voting claims, estimated overseas and absentee military voting rates for the 2006 midterm elections at a disgracefully low 5.5 percent,” wrote Novak in 2008, just before the historic presidential election where, as he predicted, thousands of our troop’s votes ended up not getting counted.
Today, as we head into the 2010 midterm elections, the same issue persists, and the latest scandal is more shameful than ever! New legislation was enacted to help our troops vote easier thanks to Republican John Cornyn and lots of bipartisan support, but according to former Department of Justice official Eric Eversole the Department of Justice is doing everything it can to ignore the new law!
That means the troops will continue to be disenfranchised!
“Unfortunately, states have been slow to revamp their voting laws to accommodate a 45-day mailing standard. Before the 2008 election, at least 10 states and the District of Columbia provided military voters with just 35 days or fewer to receive and return their ballots,” wrote Eversole
We can’t let our troops be disenfranchised, please help us fight to spread the word about this scandal and help spread Eversole’s complaints about the lack of support for our troops in allowing them to vote by donating to MAF’s HEROES VOTE fund!

There was more disturbing news in Washington when Nevada Senator John Ensign revealed that Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan told him that precedent was more important than what the Founding Father’s meant in writing the United States Constitution.
This is shocking that we can have a Supreme Court member who does not believe in the sanctity of the Constitution and is quite content to interpret it as she pleased. Senator Ensign has stood up and revealed this information and announced his strong opposition to Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court. A vote on Kagan’s confirmation could come by the end of the month. We have to stop this nomination with a Senate filibuster. Help us rally conservatives to this critical battle.

The Senator from Nevada is the latest to join the list of pro-troop senators who have come out against Kagan because of her lack of respect for our troops or the U.S. Constitution which those troops defend! Kagan kicked military recruiters off of Harvard’s campus while she served as Dean of that school, ignoring the fact our troops are in combat and attempting to please her own liberal social views.
Senator Ensign said he could not support Kagan because after spending over an hour and fifteen minutes talking with her directly in his office, it was apparent that she did not have a strong enough sense of the primacy of the US Constitution over all other laws.

Earlier this week Kagan passed to the full senate floor after winning a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee with only one Republican, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, breaking ranks and voting for Kagan, despite her anti-military stance! Many blogs, newspapers, and journals are already predicting that Graham will face tough re-election for his vote, and we could not agree more! An anti-military lawyer such as Kagan has no place on the Supreme Court!

For our troops, we must fight to keep
Kagan off the highest bench in the land
Today will be a historic day for our nation as the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote to either send Elena Kagan to the next step in her appointment process, or send her back to the office of Solicitor General, where she currently resides.
Win or lose tomorrow, we must continue the fight to keep activist judges like Kagan, who don’t respect our military or our mission to defeat radical Islamic jihadists, off of the courts. If Kagan does continue to the next step in the confirmation process then we must continue the fight there! We cannot give up, because America cannot afford to have anti-military Justices on our Supreme Court, especially not at a time when America is at war!
MAF is supporting the TV ad campaign to urge your Senators to vote AGAINST Kagan’s confirmation to the Supreme Court. Having someone like Kagan sitting on the bench, while America is at war, is like a slap in the face to our troops – and we can’t let that happen! All throughout the week, Move America Forward has held press conferences across the country with our spokesman Ben Smith, a former US Navy SEAL, to call on Senators to support our troops by voting NO on the confirmation of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.
In Nebraska, Arkansas and South Carolina, MAF joined forces with our friends form the Tea Party Express and Judicial Action group to call on Senators in those states to oppose Kagan’s nomination. We have precious little time left to act, as this vote will probably come Tuesday, July 20th!
MAF has been helping Judicial Action Group run ads in South Carolina calling on Lindsey Graham to vote NO on Kagan's confirmation. We must urge Graham to act like a real conservative, remind him that he says he supports the troops, and that Elena Kagan DOES NOT SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

In a report released just today by closed-circuit military industry news, Kim Johnson describes just how bad the IEDs around Afghanistan are and why there is such a need for troops like our adopted unit to go out there and defuse those roadside bombs!
To understand how prevalent IEDs have become, one only needed to look at a watch. The 10-mi. drive between posts was taking more than 2 hr…
…The effects are potent. According to the Brookings Institution, IEDs were responsible for almost half of the 312 U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan in 2009. The average has stayed steady this year, with IEDs claiming 39 of the 79 U.S. troops killed as of late March.
“One of the striking things about Afghanistan is the IED threat is particularly brutal,” says Brookings military analyst Michael O’Hanlon. The labyrinth of dirt roads in southern Afghanistan makes planting bombs easy.

The anti-war group organizing yesterday’s conference to criticize the military’s use of drone aircraft were so afraid of Debbie Lee and her positive message of supporting our troops that they attempted to have her arrested! Then after they failed, they hid from her, not wanting to face our flag-waving patriots. Were they afraid their small group of hippies might look bad to the media against a Gold-Star mom and a veteran Navy SEAL?
Debbie has been fighting for our troops ever since her son Marc Alan Lee became the first U.S. Navy SEAL to give his life in the War in Iraq. Marc gave his life August 2, 2006 and is responsible for saving several of his buddies’ lives. Debbie’s speeches at events like Hood River and elsewhere have touched the hearts of thousands of veterans, troops, blue and gold star families and patriots alike. Her son’s story of heroism and belief in his mission tell us why they deserve our support. Without our support our troops would become confused, doubtful, their morale would suffer, and that could have deadly consequences.
Our troops need to keep seeing these rallies. They need to keep seeing that back home their support is not waning with the American people. They need to see that every time Cindy Sheehan or someone like her opens their mouths, that we respond in kind!
Peace Nuts Plead with Police to Arrest Debbie Lee
Just hours before the rally was supposed to begin, Move America Forward’s local contact in Hood River Raelynn, who is also a member of the Gorge Heroes Club, received a call from the local police saying that a woman by the name of Susan Crowley had come to the station and begged the police to arrest Debbie Lee for “inciting a riot.”
At the time Debbie was not even Hood River yet, and the police were of course skeptical. With Cindy on one hand, who has been arrested dozens of times and banned from the White House among other places, and Debbie Lee on the other side who has never been arrested, it was obvious who the police would have to worry about.
The anti-war peace activists, who are always so adamant about exercising their freedom of speech were so afraid of another group’s speech that they tried to have Debbie arrested! “I think Cindy is afraid of a little dissenting opinion and she has to be afraid that our crowd of patriots is going to be a lot bigger than her little crowd of antagonists.” said Debbie Lee.
Cindy Sheehan hides from Debbie and Navy SEAL Ben Smith
Ben Smith was a US Navy SEAL for 6 years before retiring in 2005. He served in dangerous missions protecting America’s interests in South America, different parts of Africa and in the Middle East in Iraq. He accompanied Debbie on her trip to Oregon to be a part of this fight.
When Debbie arrived in Hood River, ahead of the rally, she was asked to hold a debate against Cindy Sheehan at the moderation of the local paper. Even the paper’s liberal editor couldn’t convince Cindy to go head to head with Debbie Lee! Instead she hid in the community church where their anti-war conference was being held.
The anti-war group was so afraid of us they actually posed 5 ‘guards’ at the gate of the church and hid upstairs. Even reporters from local media had to prove bona fide media credentials as the leftists were so afraid to face to the patriots. It was a bizarre scene as the small crowd huddled in. The far left always lavishes praise up Cindy, calling her so courageous for speaking out the way she does. Where was her courage yesterday?
Since no observers were present the only word we have on the numbers of those assembled to support Cindy came from reporters who had actually been allowed inside. They told us between 20 and 50 were at the conference, compared to almost four times that many at our rally! We had almost 200 patriots!
Still, while we didn’t get to see Cindy we were still able to embarrass her! Debbie and Ben gave great speeches about the importance of supporting the troops to the crowd assembled in the park. They made the case for why we use drones, but that was evident already, they save lives.

Hello friends, MAF Blogger Danny here to give you an update on MAF’s Rally THIS SATURDAY in Hood River, Oregon. As we told you last week, Cindy Sheehan will be attending the conference “Challenging Robotic Warfare” in Hood River and will be giving several speeches against continued American involvement in Afghanistan as well as decrying the use of drone aircraft.
Why would Cindy Sheehan rather have American troops risk their lives and possibly die at the hands of the Taliban when an unmanned aircraft could safely complete that same mission? Does she want more troops to die so that she can say “look at how costly this war is, I told you so”?
Move America Forward is sending our own Debbie Lee to Hood River to tell Cindy Sheehan that she does not speak for the rest of America. Debbie represents the sentiment of most patriotic Americans who support our troops and support any tactics which help keep our troops out of harm’s way.

Cindy Attacks “Cult of Troop Worship” in Article
This week, in a column she herself wrote, Cindy Sheehan attacked our military and all the troops who serve in it calling them “brainwashed” and “sent off to murder and rape children and pregnant women.”
And what about this Cult of Troop Worship? Even the antiwar movement is so careful to not criticize anything The Troops do. We are constantly admonished to “hate the war, but love the warrior.” I am sorry, but I don’t even like that word, “warrior.”

Cindy reveals the fundamental belief behind the anti-war movement that they have always tried to cover up. These protesters DO NOT hate only the war and support the troops. They detest our troops themselves just as much as they hate the uniform they wear, the flag they fly or the war they are fighting. They want to see failure so they can say “we told you so” they want America to fail.
Cindy Sheehan has been continuing to travel the country promoting her latest efforts to attack our troops and their missions. Yesterday she appeared at Binghampton University in New York where she was promoting her new book “Myth America” wherein she promotes class warfare against what she called “the robber class” as well as continue to attack our troops and President Obama for continuing the War in Afghanistan.

Earlier this week Sheehan was in Scranton, Pennsylvania where she slandered the legacy of U.S. troops from all wars by attacking the war memorials that surrounded the local courthouse where she set up for her speech.

Showdown with Anti-War Movement! 
Dear Patriots,
When I learned that Cindy Sheehan was back at her old antics again, this time planning a huge anti-war protest back in my home town of Hood River, Oregon I couldn’t just ignore it! Hood River is home of Insitu, a company that manufactures small, unarmed drone UAVs for the U.S. Military and other contractors who use them for emergency search and rescue missions or geological surveys.
Cindy will be here to protest Insitu at a ‘conference’ being held called “Challenging Robotic Warfare” and it’s going to be this weekend! Now you may not know this because I live in Arizona, but Hood River, Oregon is actually my home town. It’s where I raised Marc and my other beautiful children.
I’m going to Hood River this Saturday April 17th to tell Cindy Sheehan that we support our troops and that she should take her anti-troop, anti-American message elsewhere!

I have a lot of sadness in my heart for Cindy Sheehan. She lost her son Casey and I lost my son Marc, so I know what it feels like to be a grieving mother, to question why , to ask God if it was really necessary to take my Son back to heaven with Him. But as much as a mother grieves and as much as I wish Marc and Casey had not been asked to make that ultimate sacrifice, I have never questioned our troop’s bravery, their nobility, or the importance of their mission.
Marc definitely knew what that was all about. He had such a sense of duty, and a commitment to what he was accomplishing. In his last letter home he wrote about kindness and brotherhood as what makes America a great nation. He wrote about training the Iraqis to take security into his own hands and trying to instill the same values he draws strength from in them. ”I find that being here makes me realize the great country we have and the obligation we have to keep it that way.” he wrote.
That was Marc’s last letter home. I would never see or hear from my son again, until that flag-draped casket made its way back to Oregon, his medals shining brightly and standing for everything Marc stood for; honor, bravery, duty, and sacrifice.
But while I do my best to carry on Marc’s legacy, it’s people like Cindy Sheehan that provide the exact opposite. Her own son Casey, served bravely and proudly too, just like Marc. He volunteered to go out on a dangerous mission that he never came back from.
Cindy has used her son’s legacy to push her own agenda. She’s out there fighting for ‘social justice’ and an end to all wars, she’s criticizing American policies and trying to get universal healthcare, paid for by the government. She’s out making friends with America’s enemies like Hugo Chavez and running for office. Do you think her son would be proud of his mother’s actions? Is she honoring his legacy by pushing her own agenda?
I’m going to Hood River this weekend because our troops are under attack. Cindy has continued to attack them and their missions, and now she is attacking the drones that complete dangerous missions so that our troops do not have to risk getting shot by the Taliban or blown up by IEDs.

"Who says that one American soldier's life is better ...?"
Her antics last month protesting the US's continued fighting of the war in Afghanistan launched her back into the spotlight. The media crowded around Cindy last month when she criticized Obama and they continue to help Cindy regain her presence by covering every book-signing and little speech she gives.
Last week Cindy was in Scranton, Pennsylvania where she spoke to a tiny crowd about “peace” but one media report reveals that her speech was riddled with anti-American sentiment and contempt for our veterans and their legacy.
"Who says that one American soldier's life is better than an Iraqi baby, or a Pakistani baby or an Afghan baby?" she asked. "Who made the value of an American life more than any other life?"
Standing in front of a statue labeled "Love," she criticized the sayings etched into the granite veterans wall surrounding the courthouse.
"I find it despicable that this courthouse is festooned with pro-war sentiment," she said, then added later, "War - I'm sorry, it doesn't matter how many quotes you can find - war is not noble."

Cindy has absolutely no respect for the veterans of past wars who fought to free this nation, to keep it free and strong, and to make sure America led the world. She looks at the memorials built to honor our brave veterans who gave their lives to defend this country, to save American lives, and she trashes their actions.
Cindy is bringing her anti-American, anti-military message to Oregon next week to protest drone aircraft manufacturer Insitu. MAF will be there ON THE SCENE to lead a pro-troop counter offensive with a positive message for our troops to see.
We cannot simply IGNORE this woman! She has the media on her side, and she gets coverage everywhere she goes. The WORST thing we can do is ignore her and not have a presence or response.

Claims 4 American Lives 
A deadly crash Friday of an Osprey plane is sure to put a damper on our troops. It is always a sad story to hear about a helicopter accident or a truck rolling over that claims the lives of troops there. The Osprey has been in the news for other malfunctions and crashes over the years, and some military officials question it's reliably, but today the story is that 3 American troops and one American civilian will be missed by their friends and family.
Don't let accidents like these get our troop's spirits down! They need all the encouragement they can get.
Our Troops in Afghanistan and Iraq continue fighting the war on terror while back home the media often ignores most of the stories about the heroism and sacrifices our troops are making overseas. They are already leading a solitary life, out in the desert, fighting the Taliban and having the media printing only sporadically on what they are doing.

Folks, Move America Forward has learned that the anti-war activist and failed candidate for Congress, Cindy Sheehan, is coming to the town of Hood River, Oregon to protest, of all things, the use of drone aircraft that save the lives of so many of our troops.
Sheehan and some local ‘peace’ groups are organizing a ‘conference’ over several days where they will be meeting to discuss (rant and rave against) the implications of using the Drone aircraft conduct missions against the Taliban in Afghanistan. According to Sheehan and her rabid anti-American supporters, using the drones ‘hides the human cost of war’ because American soldiers don’t have to die in the sand when a drone can fly over and do a mission for them.

CHALLENGING ROBOTIC WARFARE?
The anti-war groups are planning their ‘conference’ in Hood River for next week, April 16-19th. Hood River is a small town and they are protesting one of the largest employers in the area, Insitu. The company doesn’t even make the Predator, Warrior or Reaper drones that actually hunt and kill enemy combatants or targets but they are protesting anyway!
Insitu manufactures small un-armed surveillance craft that can launch from mobile catapult and platforms and send satellite pictures and other data back to military intelligence. They also use these types of craft in geographical surveying, emergency search and rescue or disaster recovery, law enforcement, and many other civil functions.
Insitu, is one of the largest sources of jobs in this small Hood River community, so these anti-war protesters are attacking something that keeps their friends and neighbors employed, as well as helps keep our troops alive in war.
If drones were not used, these dangerous missions might have to be carried out by special forces or frontline troops in daring and often deadly raids. We can’t let these anti-war loonies attack our troops like this without a response!

Most of the 30,000 troops in the Afghanistan Surge are headed for Kandahar, according to military officials. While thousands of troops have already trickled into Afghanistan, the bulk of the 30,000 strong surge is yet to be deployed, but most will take part in the military’s next big operation in Kandahar.
"This is really a strategic moment in the history of our involvement," national security adviser Jim Jones told reporters aboard Air Force One during Obama's covert overnight flight to Afghanistan last weekend.
Kandahar has long been considered crucial to winning the war. U.S. officials believe it was where al-Qaida leaders planned the Sept. 11 attacks, and it served as a governing capital to the Taliban before the 2001 invasion

Kandahar promises to be a crucial fight for our troops. We know they can succeed if we give them the tools they need to fight the enemy and the knowledge that Americans support their efforts and sacrifices.
Kandahar, being the Taliban’s historical base of operations, promises to be a tough fight, a cataclysmic battle to dislodge them from a city they have dominated since the days of the Soviet invasion. They will not go down easily and our troops will be risking life and limb to make them go one way or the other!

Military officials expect the main operation to assault Kandahar could begin as early as June, but U.S. troops are already positioning forces, engaging in skirmishes with the Taliban, and trying to persuade tribal leaders around the outskirts of Kandahar to cooperate with coalition forces.
Once major offensive operations begin, we will be hearing about it! Compared to the 3,000 marines and thousands of Afghan troops that invaded Helmand province, the force that will be taking part in the offensive against Kandahar will be much larger!
Military and political efforts against the Taliban around Kandahar, Afghanistan's third biggest city and the Islamist militia's spiritual capital, have "been long under way," a senior NATO officer in Kabul confirmed.
"There's roughly today on the ground about 8,000 coalition troops and 12,000 Afghans in the Kandahar fight," he said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

That’s 8,000 troops, brave American men and women, taking the fight to the Taliban, risking their lives, and making sacrifices for our freedoms and our security. That’s more than double the number of troops who took part in attacking Helmand or Marjah, and while some of those 8,000 will be fresh troops, you can bet that many will have already survived fighting in Helmand or Marjah.
Our troops are tired as they have been fighting and beating the Taliban for a long time. They have made real progress, but there is still a fight to be won and our troops are going to be there!
Our job is to keep their morale high, to keep them in the fighting spirit, and remind them that they have our love and support, especially during holidays like Easter when it can get very lonely for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Back home, families are preparing their gatherings, coming together for a day of celebration and worship. In Iraq our troops’ days are filled with tough missions and much less comfortable surroundings. Most of all, they miss their families and friends during the holidays. Some of our troops have become parents since leaving for Iraq, and now they will be absent from their new child’s first Easter.

SACRIFICES FOR FREEDOM 
In more somber news, it looks like our troops are being asked to make more and more sacrifices. Even as troops in Iraq are wrapping up and ending their mission there, the war in Afghanistan continues to heat up like never before.
U.S. officials have warned that casualties are likely to rise even further as the Pentagon completes its deployment of 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan and sets its sights on the Taliban's home base of Kandahar province, where a major operation is expected in the coming months.
"We must steel ourselves, no matter how successful we are on any given day, for harder days yet to come," Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at a briefing last month.
In total, 57 U.S. troops were killed here during the first two months of 2010 compared with 28 in January and February of last year

OUR TROOPS IN HARM’S WAY
Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have been out of the media spotlight for weeks as the media have been wholly focused on domestic issues. Even a casual attention to the news lately highlights a disturbing lull in reporting about our troops and their missions in Afghanistan as well as Iraq.
Last month troops in Iraq stood watch while helping secure Iraq’s second national vote. It was a success -- it was a huge step forward for our troops and their mission there. The media reported on the day of the election, a Sunday, but has barely followed up on the story since then.
In Afghanistan our troops continue to fight a tough battle to consolidate new gains in Marjah and set their sights on the next target. But news is barely breaking through as the media is reporting constantly about Obama and his legislative agenda being forced through by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
Don’t let our troops be forgotten! They must be reminded that we still remember why they are there and everything they are doing for our nation!

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham Trying to Make Deal with Obama on Closing GITMO in Return for Military Trials for Terrorists

We need your urgent attention to new developments in Washington DC where Republican Senator Lindsey Graham is trying to get Republicans to go along with President Barack Obama and close the terrorist detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. We have to stop Republicans from joining in with this folly.
It is a shocking about-face for Senator Lindsey Graham, a huge proponent of the surge and usually a dependable supporter of our troops, said he was willing to work with President Obama to close GITMO if Obama is willing to put 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed back in military court where he belongs. When we have Obama on the ropes with this issue, why would Graham give up so much?
“Graham said yesterday that if the president agrees to try alleged Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four accused henchmen in military tribunals, he will press fellow Republicans to vote to close the Guantanamo Bay prison.
In an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation,’’ Graham said reversing Attorney General Eric Holder’s plan to try the suspected terrorists in a civilian court in New York City would be seen as an act of leadership by the public.”

WHAT IS HE THINKING?
We must tell Senator Graham not to make a deal selling our security to Obama. It’s not worth it! Keeping GITMO open and trying Khalid Sheik Mohammed in military court are equally worthy of fighting for. We should not have to trade one for the other!
MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO MOVE AMERICA FORWARD  SO WE CAN FIGHT THIS FAULTY DEAL
Clearly, these terrorists belong in a military court, not a civilian court in New York. The people of New York City and most elected officials now oppose the trial there. Even liberals in New York City are opposed to this hair brained scheme.
The only other US Courts that could try the case, Pennsylvania and Virginia, offer nothing better than New York City. Obama really has no option but to send these terrorists back to military commissions. Just as he has been backed into the corner, Lindsey Graham foolishly comes to save the day for him.
Graham is OK making a deal to close GITMO,
as long as they don’t move it to his home state!
The American people have spoken loud and clear. They do not want terrorists brought into the United States, especially when the Obama Administration wants to give them the same civil rights at trial enjoyed by American citizens. It is ridiculous, foolish and will give terrorists a platform to spew out their hate to the world. Why would Graham help Obama when the people clearly want military tribunals and continue to support GITMO staying in Cuba and NOT bringing the terrorists to our soil?

Iraqi Elections Will Test Strength of Democracy, Possibly Put Troops At Risk

Our troops in Iraq have done a phenomenal job of securing the peace and making Iraq a place where businesses can get going, Iraqi security can handle the threats from insurgent groups, and the government can have the breathing room they need to get back on their feet.
This has not been achieved completely, but if next week’s elections go smoothly, it will show that the Iraqis have come a long way, not only in security but in self-governance.
Our troops still in Iraq will be in harm’s way if sectarian violence erupts before or after the upcoming elections. They need our support during this time of uncertainty.

Our troops are watching anxiously to see how these elections go, if they go well, we may see more of our brave men and women coming home soon. If disaster strikes, our troops need to be there to keep Iraq from relapsing.

Troops in Afghanistan Must Now Play Defense

U.S. Troops Plan to Establish Permanent Base in Marjah to Cement Security Gains, Win Confidence of Locals  Troops Rest Awhile After Taking Marjah, But Their Mission is Not Over Yet
With troops wrapping up operations in Marjah, Afghanistan and consolidating their new holdings, our Marines are setting up to buckle down and make a permanent presence in the war torn city. According to major news outlets the Taliban have now largely fled and coalition forces are looking to consolidate their presence.
Our troops knew the operation in Marjah would be a very difficult one. Attacking throughout Helmand province has been tough, since the area was under heavy Taliban influence, but Marjah was a district where the Taliban had ruled for months, and where they had dug in deep. This operation has been one of the largest and costliest for our troops since the initial stages of the war back in 2001.
Our troops have paid a heavy price for the progress they’ve made, we must continue to support them and let them know we are thankful for what they have accomplished with their grit, bravery, and skill.
Send a care package to say “Thanks, we support you!
Keep it up!” to our troops fighting in Afghanistan.
Now that troops have completed the “Capture” phase of their mission, it is time to initiate the “Hold” portion. With that in mind, troops have begun taking control of some abandoned buildings in Marjah to establish a permanent presence.
On Sunday, the 1,000 Marines with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines Regiment were fortifying positions to the north and west of the town, taking over compounds and building others from scratch to create a small garrison, known as a Forward Operating Base, as well as combat outposts and a network of temporary patrol bases, said Capt. Joshua Winfrey, head of Lima Company.

A Forward Operating Base in Marjah will provide a lot more support for our troops than they had before, but the dangers are still abound! The fleeing Taliban forces have already made it clear that while the Marines hold the town, the Taliban can still strike at them by planting IEDs overnight.

Insurgents are striking back by attacking resupply convoys moving in and out of Marjah with roadside bombs, Marines said Sunday. Four convoys have been hit in the last two days, Marines said.

WITH OPERATION IN MARJAH STILL GOING, OFFICIALS SAY THE NEXT TARGET: KANDAHAR
U.S. and coalition forces have begun to transition from “clear” to “hold” in Marjah, indicating that most of the Taliban forces have been routed, fled the area, or been killed by our troops. The challenge for our troops is now to hold the villages and cities they have won in the past weeks. It is a difficult task, because of the Taliban’s sneaky tactics and roadside bombs, but our troops have been successful in holding other parts of Helmand province.
Our troops deserve a big pat on the back for the work they have
done so far, and going forward we can expect that it will not get
much easier for our brave men and women serving on the frontlines. Support our brave troops fighting to keep us safe back home!
A care package from home really brightens the day of our troops fighting in Afghanistan. They can certainly use the coffee, cookies, beef jerky, Gatorade and other items, but your personalized note of support does even more. It lifts their spirits and gives them a huge morale boost to keep fighting.
Our troops are going to continue needing our help in the next few months. They know that even with all the progress they have made invading Helmand, and now Marjah, that more battles await.
Our top commander in Afghanistan, Stanley McChrystal has made it clear that the next objective, after Marjah is wrapped up, will be the city of Kandahar. A longtime Taliban stronghold, General McChrystal described it as the “key geographic objective” as the Taliban’s most influential territory. Retaking control of Kandahar would mean controlling the surrounding areas that serve as the Taliban’s hiding grounds.
It will not be easy though, as tough as Marjah was for our troops these past few weeks, Kandahar is sure to be a much more difficult operation. Our troops will be gearing up for it, we should support their efforts!

Troops in Afghanistan Seeing Toughest Battles Since the War Began!

TROOPS NEED OUR SUPPORT NOW MORE THAN EVER, THEY NEED TO KNOW WE WILL HAVE THEIR BACKS 
Folks, for weeks now we have been hearing about the operation our troops are undertaking in Marjeh, southern Afghanistan, in an effort to root out the last remaining vestiges of Taliban power in Helmand province. We knew it would be a tough operation, we knew Marjeh was a stronghold of the Taliban, and we knew there would be casualties, but now that we are over a week into the operation, it’s becoming clear just how tough this fight is!
News accounts are reporting that over January and February we have already had 54 deaths in Afghanistan. During the same 2 month period last year, U.S. forces lost 30 troops. That’s almost twice as many casualties as last year, after one year of an increasingly hostile war in Afghanistan that promises to continue heating up in the months to come.
We need to show our troops that we haven’t forgotten them during this troubling time. The news media is talking a lot more about Obama’s healthcare proposals and not enough about our troops and the battles they are facing! Send a care package

Petraeus, Hero of Iraq, Reminds
Us Why Afghanistan is Important
As our troops are locked in this epic battle for supremacy on the ground in Afghanistan, as they are taking heavy losses and paying a high price for every village they expel the Taliban from, sometimes we ask ourselves, is it all worth it?
Think of our troops. They are the ones putting their lives on the line. Do you think they question whether this backwater country of Afghanistan is worth their blood and sweat? It is the blood and sweat of their friends and comrads -- some of whom sacrificed their very lives for it?
General David H. Petraeus, the hero who turned around the war in Iraq and implemented the strategy that created security there, reminds us why Afghanistan is an important war that is vital for America to WIN:

Our troops can take heart in having the support and leadership of such visionary men like General Petraeus. His legacy of applying the right intelligence, the right strategy, and the right mix of the awesome might of the U.S. armed forces, will live on for years for its brilliant implementation.
But General Petreaeus is ALWAYS quick to point out that those who TRULY deserve the credit are our American troops. They fought a tough battle to turn the corner in Iraq, taking heavy losses, and they are doing the same right now in Afghanistan.
They need our support! We were there for them when they fought to win the war in Iraq! We did NOT allow defeat to be snatched from the jaws of victory!
Support our troops now in Afghanistan and they will win there too! But to give our troops that support we need your help!

Danger Mounts for U.S. Troops
Serious Need for Morale Boost
U.S. Marines are deep in a battle to oust the Taliban from Marjah and they are under heavy fire. The brave men and women face not just tough and resistant jihadists, but must operate under strict rules to protect civilians first. The Taliban are using children and women as human shields, firing at our Marines from behind the shrouded shields.
A platoon leader, 1st Lt. Gavin McMahon of Brooklyn, N.Y., has been in the middle of bloody firefights, according to the Associated Press. He has seen his brothers in arms fall in swarms of enemy bullets. And he has fought to keep them alive when some of the new rules of engagement (ROE) make his job more difficult and dangerous.
The inability to stop people who don't have weapons is the main hindrance right now," McMahon told the AP after the firefight. "They know how to use our ROE against us."
Troops like McMahon need to know that the American people support them as they battle for our security.

Our troops are working in a stressful environment and many don’t often hear from home. Every day Move America Forward receives thank you notes from our troops serving in the war on terror. Maj. Diana Duncan this week sent a thank you note on behalf of a soldier in the war zone.
"Thank you so much for the package that was sent to SRA Smith. He had just returned from emergency leave,” Maj. Duncan wrote. “His father had a heart attack and passed away. The box from Move America Forward was waiting for him upon his return to Afghanistan. It gave him a little surprise and a nice feeling that someone was thinking of him, thank you.”
Our troops don’t ask anything of Americans who enjoy the freedoms they protect. But the care packages lift the spirits of lonely and tired soldiers who face terrorists so we don’t have to here at home.
This week our Marines have made major headway in Marjah. The clash is the largest since the war began in Afghanistan after radical jihadists attacked the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.

Dear Friends,
As you know I have been working with Move America Forward for years now, and over the years I have seen our troops going through the most difficult and trying missions, and come out on top. When I first met the Move America Forward team in early 2007, our troops were in the middle of trying to turn the corner in Iraq. It did not look good, and the liberal politicians back home were flooding the airwaves with negative and defeatist rhetoric. But we kept the faith, and our troops showed them that when we give them the resources, they can accomplish anything!
Right now, our troops are locked in another huge battle for Marjeh in Afghanistan. Last year our troops went into battle in a huge assault on Helmand province where they pushed the Taliban out, but it was a tough battle and our troops sustained many casualties. Now they are right next door in Marjeh, and again the enemy has dug in deep and our troops are facing another tough battle.
As I watched the news reports over the weekend and saw the kind of threats our troops are facing from the enemy, I was reminded immediately of my own son Marc, a U.S Navy SEAL, and most importantly a hero to me and everyone whose lives he touched.
Marc gave his life in defense of his buddies in the battle for control of Ramadi, Iraq. Fallujah and Ramadi are neighboring cities in Anbar province, and part of what was known to our troops as “The Sunni Triangle” or “Triangle of Death” because of how dangerous they were. Fallujah and Ramadi were both at one point strongholds of the insurgency fueled by Al Qaeda in Iraq, and thanks to the work and sacrifice of brave men and women like my son, the Anbar province, including Fallujah and Ramadi are safe cities today.
It was August 2nd, 2006 when Marc and his fellow SEALs were engaged in the most intense battle to date in Ramadi. One of Marc’s buddies, Ryan, was hit by shrapnel and had a massive head injury. They knew Ryan wouldn’t survive his wounds unless they got medical help up to him immediately, but they were pinned down by heavy fire.
Without thinking of himself, Marc, who carried the m-60, the big gun, stood up in the direct line of fire and let loose a withering, sustained field of fire to keep the enemy down so the medical team could get to Ryan. Because of my Son’s bravery and heroism, they were able to get medic up to the rooftop. Marc stood up in the line of fire again, and provided the cover to get Ryan down the building. He survived that day, thanks to Marc’s bravery.
When they got back to the base, Marc’s Chief came over and said they had found where 30 of the insurgents that had just attacked them were hiding and asked if they were up for going back out. Marc looked at his Chief and said “Roger that, let’s go get’em!”
As they were charging up that building, Marc took the lead, he didn’t have to but he volunteered to go in first, despite the danger, he knew he had a job to do and he was a natural leader and very protective of his team. As the SEALs ascended the narrow stairs, they took enemy fire through the window and that was the last and final time Marc stepped into the line of fire and made the ultimate sacrifice for his buddies, for me, for you.
Marc knew the risk he was taking. He loved his job and he loved his country and he was willing to give everything to protect it. Marc also wanted to make a difference and give the people over there a chance to live a life with the freedoms he was used to.
I know very well how hard it is to have a son or daughter in battle, to be worried about them every day, knowing that any time you could get that phone call that you dread more than anything in the world. I know the sacrifices that our troops make and I know how we can help them.
Our troops really need our support, especially right now! They are pushing the Taliban out of another stronghold, and as the enemy loses more and more ground to our troops, they are getting desperate, leaving many booby traps and roadside bombs that threaten our troops.
We can only do our best to support their efforts. Send a care package; write a letter to go with it that shows your support. Tell our troops how much you appreciate what they are doing, let them know that we know what they are going through, that we understand how much they are sacrificing and that we appreciate their willingness to do it.

Today is the anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s Birthday, 99 years ago. With our military troops in harm’s way in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is a good time to remember Ronald Reagan’s commitment to our military.
When I first went to work for Reagan in his campaign for Governor of California in 1966 and then into the Governor’s Office, he was always concerned about the wellbeing of our military men and women. He had a well known picture perfect love affair with his wife, Nancy, but they both also shared a deep love for our troops.
When the American POW’s from Viet Nam came home, the Reagan’s opened their home and hearts to these heroic men. People will never know of the personal acts of kindness and generosity the Reagan’s put forth. He deeply cared for our troops, and they knew it and replicated their affection for him whenever they could.

Reagan’s Support for Troops One of the
Turning Points of 1980 Presidential Campaign
Most scholars and election experts consider the Presidential debate in Nashua, New Hampshire, to be the turning point in the campaign and really put Reagan on the course to not only defeat George Bush, Bob Dole, Howard Baker, Phil Crane, John Connally and the others in the Primary, but also President Jimmy Carter in the November election.
Everybody remembers when Reagan took command of the debate and chastised the moderator for trying to shut down his microphone as he insisted on letting more candidates than just George Bush get up on the platform to speak. That was certainly a debate highlight.
But I always thought it was just as important that Reagan clearly articulated to the voters his vision of America. One of his clear and unequivocal statements was, “We should never let young men die in a war that their government is afraid to let them win.”
Since I was close to doing my military service during the time I worked for him in the Governor’s Office, we often talked about the war in Viet Nam and his strong feelings that we should never commit our troops to combat unless we were willing to go all out. He often said we should win the war or get out.
That is why it was so heartbreaking for him when one of the first battles of the war on terror took place at the Marine Barracks in Lebanon. He felt so badly he had put our troops in there without sufficient safeguards. After leaving the Presidency and coming back home, he said, “Sending our boys to that place is the most anguishing regret of my years as President.”
I hope you will honor Ronald Reagan today by remembering our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tomorrow will be busy with Super Bowl parties. So please do this today.

My wife and I were honored to be included in the Home Porting ceremony of the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier (shown behind us in the photograph). President Reagan had passed shortly before the ceremony, which made the ceremony more somber for those who had worked for him. Mrs. Reagan was radiant and beautiful as always as she addressed the huge crowd during that difficult time.
We all couldn’t keep from talking about what ‘The Gipper’ would be saying at this ceremony. I can tell you that he would have been a little embarrassed – he was so humble.

But, I know he would have been so proud to see this magnificent ship with American military men and women all spruced up for the occasion. He would have loved every minute of it, and it would have taken quite a few tugs by his advance staff to get him to leave.
Today so many Americans think about how and where we can find another Ronald Reagan. We cannot, for he was surely one of a kind. But we can keep his ideals and principles, his profound belief in the goodness of America and her people, fresh in our thoughts. I know you also share his love for our military. So I hope you will support them today.

This is big! Last year you will remember our Marines made a huge push into Helmand province, to cut off the stranglehold that the Taliban had gained on that southern region of Afghanistan.
“For the Camp Lejeune, N.C.-based infantrymen of the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment who will be participating in the battle for control of Marjeh — the Taliban’s last major stronghold in Helmand province — it’s a time of quiet reflection as they prepare for what in the weeks ahead is expected to be one of the largest, and potentially most dangerous, military operations of the past year.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of bombs are likely to be buried around Marjeh, which features a sprawling network of canals and poppy fields mixed together with a busy marketplace, according to Marines.”

This offensive is a huge undertaking for our Marines. The fact that it’s the Taliban’s last big stronghold means they will be fighting for it even more fiercely than they defended Helmand Province, which was a tough fight for our troops, so they are expecting an even tougher enemy!

Despite significant hardships and a resurgent Taliban, it looks like the situation may be improving with more U.S. troops on the ground and increased cooperation between the Afghan security forces, and NATO.
“I feel differently now,” he says, referring to his comments last year when he predicted we could lose the war if things were not changed. “I think we made significant progress…we’ll make real progress in 2010.” He told the NATO conference on Afghanistan assembled in Istanbul, Turkey.
Thanks to our troops, our Commander in Afghanistan is predicting a different outcome! But it’s only thanks to the brave soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen who put their lives on the line for us back home.

Our troops fighting in Afghanistan had a tough year in 2009 with casualties getting higher. The war in Afghanistan has intensified, and too many restrictions our being put on our troops to make matters worse. This coming year will be a tough one for our troops fighting the terrorists there, and our troops need our support!
Winter in Afghanistan is as unforgiving as the hot summers in Iraq. The mountainous regions where are troops are fighting the Taliban near the Pakistani border are rocky and hostile terrain where temperatures often drop below freezing and the snow covers the earth. Our brave troops will be fighting the cold even as they continue to fight and beat back the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies.
This the time to show our troops that the American people are behind them – despite some of the nonsense they see and hear from some of our politicians. Can you sponsor a package of goodies – hot chocolate, coffee, jelly bellies, cookies and other treats now?

Patriots generously supported our troops during the Christmas holidays with care packages, but the after-holiday slump has hit and our troops need a morale boost. Move America Forward has received a flood of thank you letters from thankful troops who received your Christmas packages with personal notes. Now, during the harsh days of winter and as the war ramps up in Afghanistan, we can’t let our troops down.
Our troops don’t forget to thank us, even when they are on the front lines fighting against radical Muslim jihadists.
“Thank you for the package. It did indeed help make my job easier,” wrote LCPL. Jacob Brehm, a Marine. “I am here doing what I do to help protect upstanding Americans like yourself.”
American troops are a world away from their families and friends. Sgt. Daisy Reyes has deployed three times to the war zone –twice in Iraq and once in Afghanistan. She received a personalized care package just before Thanksgiving from a patriotic American through MAF’s program.
“We thank God for fellow Americans like yourself that never forget us,” Sgt. Reyes wrote. “Thank you and have a blessed day.”
Now is not the time to forget our troops. They are leaving their families – sometimes newlyweds and new parents must say goodbye – to stand up for our country. What will we sacrifice to thank them?

President Obama continues ignoring American security and trying to ignore the war on terror as his administration is buckling down and defending his position of closing GITMO and transferring the terrorists elsewhere, officials from his administration said Sunday. Even if it means grave security risks, Obama continues to ignore them and move forward his plans to shut down GITMO and send the terrorists back home as free men, or attempting to bring them back to American prisons like the one in Thomson, IL.
Obama’s top counterterrorism official in the NSA, John Brennan, appeared on all the major news networks on Sunday to bring the message that Obama is not changing his position on GITMO or the transfer or terrorists back to the Middle East. Even the recent terrorist attack that came on Christmas Day 2009, and the recent threats that forced the U.S. and Britain to shut down and close embassies in Yemen, the obvious security risks STILL aren’t enough to cause Obama to change his far leftists views. He is not taking his job of protecting America seriously!

Obama's Counterterrorism Advisor John Brennan says we must close
GITMO and setting terrorists free in their home countries...WHAT?
Protecting American lives is job number one for any President, but Obama seems to be making it dead last on his list of priorities. He is much more concerned with pushing his healthcare policies, his taxes and bailouts. He wants to close GITMO and send many of those terrorists back to Yemen or Saudi Arabia!
In fact there are still over 90 terrorists at GITMO from Yemen ALONE and Obama wants to send most of them back home! That’s not even taking into account the terrorists he has released back to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other places in the Middle East. Appearing on CNN’s Face the Nation, John Brennan admitted “Some of these individuals are going to be transferred back to Yemen at the right time and the right place and in the right way.”
John Brennan and Obama should know better – It is NEVER a good time to transfer terrorists back to Yemen or Saudi Arabia! Haven’t we learned that the hard way enough times already? After we transferred terrorists to the Middle East they went free and returned to the battlefield, planned bombings like the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Yemen earlier this year that killed one American citizen, and they planned the attack on Christmas Day that could have killed hundreds!
As MAF has been calling for Obama to halt these dangerous transfers, many people are taking note of the dangers and joining us in the call! In fact Missouri Senator Kit Bond(R) and many other Republicans are also calling on Obama to halt transfers. Even liberal senator Diane Feinstein and liberal congresswoman Jane Harman expressed doubts about the practice! Senator Joe Lieberman has been a long-time critic of transferring detainees out of GITMO.

Move America Forward has met so many patriots since we began to support our troops and their missions. Veterans, mothers, injured troops, and soldiers’ children from all walks have life have stood beside us to stand for our men and women in uniform.
During MAF’s 12 Days of Christmas, we chronicle the gifts that American troops have given to us since the first days of America. Each day we will tell the story of that gift and why we must celebrate our troops.

Today, the White House released a formal memorandum, signed by President Obama, directing Attorney General Eric Holder to secure the Thomson Correctional Center in Thomson, Illinois. The facility will be brought under the control of the federal government and set up to hold Gitmo detainees, up to 100, sources have indicated.
We gain nothing by shutting down Guantanamo Bay, which has been proven to be an ideal facility, tailor-made for this job and operating in full accordance with our laws and values
Moving them to a stateside facility is dangerous and the fact that it’s so close to a huge urban area like Chicago makes the Thomson facility a particularly attractive target for would-be terrorists.
Haven't we heard enough about GITMO? Obama still has no comprehensive plan, but is trying to shut down GITMO piece by piece and saddle the burden on our neighborhoods!

We owe our troops so much. Today, our brave men and women protect us against radical Jihadists who want to exterminate our way of life. From the birth of our country until today, American troops have stood for liberty at home and around the world.

Today, on MAF’s First Day of Christmas, we remember the gift of our country.
The United States of America did not exist before patriots led by Gen. George Washington stood and fought for her. They laid down their lives, struggled in brutal weather, and fought the best-equipped war-machine in the world – the British Army and Navy.
On Christmas Day, 1776, Gen. George Washington crossed the Delaware River with 2,400 American soldiers. The conditions were harsh – freezing water, a menacing sky. Washington’s men pushed forward in a bold move during the Revolutionary War. Some of his men fell ill, their supplies dwindled, yet they moved forward on this Christmas Day with the hearts of heroes.
Those same hearts beat in the men and women who now serve our country around the world.
Because of Gen. George Washington, his men and the women who supported their efforts, we have a long tradition of heroes who are willing to fight for our country. That is why we are celebrating every one of our heroes as they fight for our freedom, the very liberty that allows us to enjoy our holidays in safety as our troops fight in brutal conditions in the Middle East.

"There's a whole lot of people that are not coming home (this Christmas)," he said. "They're either dead and can't, or they're over there serving our country, helping others, and making it so I can spend time with my family."
That’s what Jim Jones has to say about our troops, and it was in tribute to them that he built the above Christmas display outside his home. It serves as an expression of gratitude and reverence for the thousands of vets who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, as well as those troops who are still serving.
We should all take his display as a reminder to keep our troops in our hearts and prayers this Christmas and holiday season. You can support our troops these holidays by sending them a special holiday care package filled with special Christmas items like candy canes, hot cider and hot cocoa!
Jones said he started the seasonal light display in 2004, the winter after he returned from a nearly year-long tour in Iraq with the Army National Guard.
The idea came while Jones was waiting in line to buy Christmas presents that winter at Walmart. People around him were complaining about all the things they couldn't afford this Christmas, and "it just kind of made me mad," he said.
We need to see more patriotic American like Mr. Jim Jones. He already served his country and still, after doing his duty, he continues to do all he can to support our military men and women even after he has retired to civilian life.

Pearl Harbor, 9/11 – Remembering Heroes over Time
Dear Friends, every Pearl Harbor I am reminded of selfless men and women who have served our country in the Armed Forces. I was proud as my family members stepped up and served our country. I was in awe as my son, Marc Alan Lee, fought in the War on Terror after radical jihadists killed 3,000 innocents on Sept. 11, 2001.
When Marc gave his life in Iraq, my world changed. It wasn’t just that I no longer had my son here on earth with me, it was that my heart opened wider to those who sacrifice so much to protect America and her people.
I now speak on behalf of veterans and our troops, supporting them and their missions.
Tomorrow we will be remembering Pearl Harbor Day and the memory of the terrible sneak attack our nation suffered that day. More than 2,300 Americans died at the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, during the attack by the Japanese Imperial Navy that spurred us into World War II. More than 400,000 troops gave their lives in the battle for America’s freedom against tyranny.
The parallel between Pearl Harbor day and 9/11 reminds us that we must always remember what happened and how our brave men and women fought back. We need to show our heroes who are fighting now that we support them while they protect our security. MAF has created special Christmas packages that you can sponsor for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. You may send a personal note in the packages.
I visited Iraq during Christmas two years ago with a group from MAF. I was touched and humbled by the troops who were so thankful to see us. We gave them handmade cards and other items from home. They were so grateful. Imagine that: Our troops who put their lives on the line were happy to see folks from home and receive Christmas and Hanukkah cards made by children, churches, families, and other patriotic Americans.
Every day I pray for our veterans and our troops. I will never forget the courage of the troops who fought back on Pearl Harbor Day as their buddies were killed in the unconscionable attack. Since Marc gave his life for America, I have been honored to meet and talk with World War II veterans who stand up to support our current warriors.

1 in 4 of the Army’s Best and Brightest Elite Officers will be Shipping out to Afghanistan
President Obama sure took his time deciding to finally take the advice of America’s most experienced and capable Generals, but at least now that our troops can finally know that they will soon be getting the support they need.
While Obama gave the generals some of the troops they needed, they still have not taken the gloves off and allowed our troops to employ the tactics and deploy the heavy guns against the Taliban. So with only 30,000 additional troops and an extremely restrictive set of rules for engaging the terrorists, our troops in Afghanistan still have a very tough fight to look forward to.
A Surge in Afghanistan means we need to show a surge of support! Help MAF send a surge of care packages

Army Officers get Advanced War Training for Afghanistan Mission
As reported in today’s Army Times:
One-quarter of the officers graduating this week from the Army’s School for Advanced Military Studies are soon to be in Afghanistan.
Thirty officers will graduate Thursday from the school at Fort Leavenworth after a year of study in military arts and sciences. The program focuses on planning and carrying out operations, ranging from conventional war to counterinsurgency and peacekeeping missions.

Their mission will be to continue and advance the training of the Afghan security forces so that the Taliban cannot return to power after our troops are finished obliterating their caves and hideouts in Southern and Eastern Afghanistan.
We know our troops are the smartest, the bravest, the toughest, and the best equipped military force the world has ever seen! The best of the best deserve only the best from Move America Forward. FORMER GITMO DETAINEE ON
TRIAL IN U.S. WANTS FREEDOM!
In a striking and terrifying parallel to the news posted last month that Obama and Eric Holder have decided to hold the terror trials of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York City, we are seeing what happens when terrorists are allowed to be tried on U.S. soil. A GITMO detainee who Obama approved MONTHS AGO for trial in New York instead of military commission could be SET FREE instead of convicted!

Ahmed Khalifan Ghailani is in U.S. custody for helping plot and carry out the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. The trial, which is going on in New York because Obama ended the military trial earlier this year, is about to take a turn for the weird as Ghailani and his ACLU lawyers are now saying that he should be released, claiming that he was tortured, mistreated and had his rights taken away. There is an obvious tie from this story to that of Khalid Sheik Mohammed who will be going on trial with five co-conspirators very soon in the same court. |
This is the kind of legal difficulty we can expect from KSM’s trial as well, as many lawyers, especially those like Andy McCarthy who is familiar with these terror trials, and has prosecuted several, have said. We can only expect that KSM will pull just as many curveballs at the legal system, and make it a very difficult, expensive, and dangerous trial for New York City!
At the same time this is going on, military trials have resumed at Guantanamo Bay! Miliitary commissions that were NOT GOOD ENOUGH (according to Obama) for Khalid Sheik Mohammed, are still going on! Why can’t Obama just let the military try and convict this monster? They are not bound by the same restraints as civilian courts!! Despite this, Obama has insisted on taking this dangerous approach, but luckily YOU can make a difference and speak out against it!
Just attend the upcoming rally in New York and show your dissatisfaction with Obama’s policies!

As expected tonight, Obama announced that after months and months of ignoring the question, putting it off, procrastinating while our troops in Afghanistan have been languishing and trying to fight the Taliban without the resources and manpower they need, that he will finally take the advice of General McChyrstal and other military leaders and send the 30,000 more troops that they need to overwhelm the enemy.
We can hardly imagine how frustrating it must be for our troops deployed to Afghanistan. They are away from their families, during the holidays no less, and even though they may soon be getting a small surge in troop levels, they are still being put in danger by Obama’s ridiculous rules of engagement.
But you can help make a day go by a little easier for our troops by sponsoring a care package from Move America Forward!
Reinforcements are good news for our troops! But it has taken Obama far too long to make this simple decision. Meanwhile, the ridiculously restrictive rules of engagement mandated by that administration continues to make it harder for our troops to defend themselves and attack the enemy. Our troops are still not allowed to soften enemy positions with air strikes before going in on foot, they still are not allowed to fire on an enemy unless they fire on you first, and a whole host of other rules which put our troops in danger!
Just like in Vietnam, our leaders in Washington may be convinced to send more troops, but when will they stop trying to micromanage the war? Telling our troops HOW to fight? All the while our troops have their hands tied, unable to employ the tactics necessary to kill the enemy, and they are watching their fellow troops get injured, maimed, even killed by the enemy, and they can’t even fight back!
Please send a message of support for these troops. They are in a very tough position and they need to know that we support them and wish them the best as they protect our freedoms here at home. This year Move America Forward is including several special items in our Holiday Care Packages.

Last week Move America Forward attracted the local news when we kicked our care package operation into high gear!
One volunteer who was there, helping assemble care packages, wrote:
“I worked at the front and back, taping empty boxes together and then sealing them after they were filled. In front of me were several long tables overflowing with snacks and drinks, music CD's and postcards, chap sticks and deodorant, and lots of other stuff anyone in these places might need or could use.
"Trail mix!" someone would yell, again, and one of the teens in the back would bring a case of trail mix, opened and ready to be distributed. Give kids a reason to yell and they will.
"Empty box!" another kid would yell, bringing a flurry of smaller kids to snatch the empty and whisk it away.
"Cookies!" (Better get outta the way.)
"Deodorant!" (Don't say it.)
Outside, several young boys were taking turns stacking the filled boxes on pallets, building forts with walls and battlements until a teen came by to take the heavy pallet away.” |

Our troops continue to fight a very tough war against the Taliban and Al Qaeda. The temperatures in the mountains are freezing while in the desert they are sweltering. And to make matters worse their ability to fight the enemy is hindered by the congress trying to micromanage the war from Washington!

Heroes Fight to Protect Us So
We can Enjoy Thanksgiving
Since my son, Marc Alan Lee, gave his life in Iraq, I have adopted scores of daughters and sons who serve our country and literally offer their lives so we may enjoy peace and freedom at home. As Thanksgiving approaches, I constantly think about Marc’s friends and my extended family in the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, thousands of miles away from their families and friends.
I went to Iraq during Christmas two years ago and I had the honor of bringing Christmas and Hanukkah cards to our troops. I will never forget their faces and the joy that simple messages from home gave them. And I will always remember the thank yous. Our heroic men and women thanked Americans for remembering them.
Life is especially hard for our troops on the frontlines during the holidays. Some may not be able to hold their newly born children, or even talk to their families. That is why I am asking you to sponsor a care package with a personal message for our troops.
Every day U.S. troops take time out of their days in war zones to send thank you notes back home. Care packages remind them that they are not forgotten as we sit down to Thanksgiving dinners with all of the trimmings.
Read a couple of lines from thankful troops:
“We very much appreciate all of your efforts and are heartened by your continued support of the troops,” wrote Specialist Craig from Tallil, Iraq. “The smallest of kind thoughts are larger than complaints from the naysayers.”

Our troops are so generous to the American people who get to enjoy Thanksgiving at home with our families and friends. I will always have an empty seat at my Thanksgiving dinner table. But Marc, who was the first Navy SEAL to give his life in Iraq, has given me the voice and strength to stand up for his brothers and sisters in arms.

We don’t need to tell you again why this is a bad idea; MAF has been talking about why Guantanamo Bay is a perfectly suitable place to try and detain the terrorists since the beginning of the year when MAF returned from there.
Our delegation spent 3 days touring the camps and found it to be a clean and humane facility, run like clockwork, by a team of dedicated, professional troops. Obama’s Attorney General, Eric Holder, who visited the camps several months after us, came to the same conclusion. Further bolstering GITMO’s position, Obama himself, not long ago, thought the military commissions would be fine.
But despite finding GITMO and the military commissions there to be favorable, Obama is still committed to closing GITMO and trying the terrorists in civilian court, trying to please his left wing base and weak-kneed foreign governments.
Not to be silenced, despite the fact that Obama has completely ignored them in his presidency, 9/11 families, victims of terror, and Gold star families, who lost family members in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, were quick to respond.

The family of journalist Daniel Pearl, who was captured and executed by terrorists, purportedly by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed HIMSELF, expressed that they were dissatisfied with Obama’s decision. They, like all the 9/11 families we have contacted, believe the terrorists should be tried by the military at GITMO, not on sacred U.S. soil with full constitutional rights reserved for Americans.

It’s just a slap in the face to anyone who has lost a family member because of this terrorist Jihad. Whether your loved one was on the USS Cole, in one of the trade center towers, aboard Flight 93, in the battlefields of Iraq or Afghanistan, or even one of the unlucky troops who died in the Fort Hood shootings, or any other place where terrorists have struck.
But remember, as we are watching these events unfold, still reeling from the trauma caused by the Fort Hood terrorist, Nadal Hassan, and now having to deal with the news of Obama’s terror trial decision, it’s easy to get mixed up in the news cycle and forget something very important.
American security is at stake. The terrorist will make a New York civilian trial into a circus and a recruiting tool for more terrorists. American intelligence secrets will be discovered. This is a bad decision and hopefully the protest from the American people will make the President keep the terrorists at Gitmo and under the jurisdiction of military tribunals.
