Mix of lefties and patriots arguing about the 21 people arrested for disorderly conduct days ….
JUST POSTED; MILWAUKEE ARMY RECRUITMENT STATION HIT BY PROTESTERS (comments)

SECTION: SPECTRUM; Pg. F1

LENGTH: 402 words

"Police arrested 21 people (Monday) night for disorderly conduct during an Iraq war protest outside the Army Recruiting Center near the UW-Milwaukee campus. Protesters clad in black, carrying torches and wearing ski masks were reportedly setting off smoke bombs and throwing paint as they approached an Army Recruiting Center, police said. Someone threw an object through the recruitment center's window and spread what appears to be human waste inside before running off. I say lock 'em up."

"They have the right to peacefully assemble. It sounds like this demonstration fell short of that."
-- Think38

"They certainly do have the right to assemble peacefully. I don't condone how they went about it. However, it is hard to assemble peacefully when you're protesting human beings that are being disassembled unpeacefully. It's too bad they blew their opportunity to do something right by committing criminal acts."
-- Rembember_Me

"Destruction and violence get more attention than peaceful protests."
-- scoobysnack

"Why is it hard to assemble peacefully? What you are essentially saying is under some circumstances, violence is OK.' It is just that kind of logic that you are protesting with the war."
-- jarhead

"There was nothing political about this at all. What happened was a bunch of suburban kids decided they wanted to trash something that wasn't theirs. So instead of tearing up something in West Bend, they decided to go into Milwaukee to like make a statement against the war, dude.' These idiots filmed themselves while they vandalized the recruiting office."
-- cmb

"I don't understand why people would attack a military recruiting station. What statement are they trying to make? It seems to me this is a bunch of immature kids who really haven't thought this through. If we care about the troops, we should allow them to have reinforcements, on the condition that the new recruits are told the truth. Stopping new recruits will not stop the war. It will only make the soldiers who are already there stay longer."
-- Donna

"Most peaceful protests staged by young people have been, and probably always will be more about the camaraderie, the chance to meet people of the opposite gender, and the desire to belong to a group. When things get violent, it is more about finding an excuse to blow off some testosterone-fueled steam. Do you really think these kids are concerned about the war?"
