Investigators were trying to determine a motive for the vandalism, which caused between $5,000 and $10,000 damage to the Marine Army Recruiting Center, 2709 S. State.

"The damage they did would have given them complete access to everything inside there, but we couldn't find anything missing," South Salt Lake Sgt. Keith Livingston said.

Police Saturday wondered if the vandalism may have been carried out to show opposition to the pending war with Iraq. But no anti-war messages were found anywhere in or around the building, Livingston said.
